Don't let your mind go into the gutter, or at least your bowling balls. Asians and Friends Chicago is throwing a bowling event on Saturday, May 21, 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Southport Lanes, 3325 N. Southport at Southport and Henderson. Donation: $25.
Also included in the evening are light appetizers, a pool table and a silent auction featuring a Lake Geneva getaway, Blue Man Group tickets, dance classes at the Joel Hall Dance Center, a bar tab at @mosphere and a leather vest.
'May is also Asian/Pacific Islander month,' says Angel Abcede, president of Asians and Friends Chicago. 'So it's an opportunity to take part in an event that raises awareness of heritage and brings cultures together.'
Proceeds will support the organization's June Pride Parade entry themed, 'Year of the Cock.' Asians and Friends is a social organization for gay men of Asian and Pacific Islander descent and individuals interested in Asian cultures. The group celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.
