CHICAGO"Artemis Singers, www.artemissingers.org, Chicago's lesbian feminist chorus, is a Community Partner of Reeling: The 40th Chicago LGBTQ+ International Film Festival for their screening of Vulveeta, a mockumentary about the reunion of a Lesbian punk band.

The in-person screening of the film is at 9 p.m., Friday, September 23, at the Landmark Theatre, 2828 N. Clark St., Chicago.

The film also will be available for streaming from Sept. 30 to October 6. Tickets are available at https://reelingfilmfest.eventive.org/schedule/62f6860a015ccc005bb9ad3a.

Lead singer Grrrilda Beausoleil is turning 50 and all she wants is a reunion with her 1990s riot grrrl band — the one she unceremoniously abandoned 20 years ago just as they were about to make it to the big time. Can they play a big reconciliation show? Vulveeta has to convince the band that she's ready to kill it onstage! Will they get past her new-age aphorisms and believe her? Will they draw a crowd? Will Grrrilda fulfill their dream of making it to the top at long last?

The trailer is at https://vimeo.com/629494852.

The next Artemis Singers concert, Samhain - Encounters through the Veil, will be Saturday, October 29, in Evanston. More information at ArtemisSingers.org .

Founded in 1980, Artemis Singers has been a mainstay in lesbian feminist cultural life. The chorus takes its name from the Greek goddess Artemis, who is a symbol of independence among lesbian feminists. The chorus was inducted into the City of Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame in 2008. Audiences have seen Artemis Singers at the Chicago History Museum, the Jay Pritzker Pavilion at Millennium Park (Gay Games) and at numerous universities.

Artemis Singers provides creative opportunities for women interested in all aspects of choral production: conducting, song writing and arranging, performance lighting, choreography, audio, artistic direction, stage management and vocal instruction.

For more information, email info@artemissingers.org or call (773) 764-4465. Artemis Singers is a 501(c)3 not for profit corporation. Follow Artemis Singers on Twitter, YouTube and Facebook.
