Nova Art Fair organizers recently signed a contract with the City Suites Hotel at 933 W. Belmont to rent the hotel for the event's 2006 installment, which will take place April 27-30, according to an organizational press release.
Using the hotel is a departure from the show's initial year, when an existing warehouse space was 'transformed' for the exhibition. The rooms will actually be tailored to galleries' specific requests.
City Suites is a four-story boutique hotel with a total of 45 rooms. At the ends of each floor are two rooms that can be used as a single exhibition space by an adjoining door between the rooms. Participating galleries will be announced in February, with 35-40 anticipated.
Besides exhibiting galleries, Nova will offer space to individual artists and collectives. As with last year, there will be poetry and fiction readings; panel discussions; lectures; live music performances; and film screenings. The event is organized by Bridge Magazine, a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) not-for-profit corporation.
