Affinity Community Services, in partnership with The Care Plan, LLC is hosting the LGBTQ Care Fair. This fair is aimed to provide resources and education specifically catering to the needs of LGBTQ older adults.
This event is Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 and is free and open to anyone interested. It is located at the Villa at Windsor Park, 2649 E. 75th St.
Join the partners as well as other local care agencies to learn about options as an aging LGBTQ individual. Confirmed agencies include: AARP Chicago, Howard Brown Health, Renewal Care and Villa Health Care Management. Along with tabling from these agencies and others, there will be workshops discussing care plans, advanced directives, and aging as an LGBTQ person. This fair is open to all ages.
"Aging as an LGBTQ person has unique challenges associated with receiving quality, accessible, competent care," said Affinity Executive Director Imani Rupert-Gordon. "LGBTQ older adults experience significant health disparities in older age, and statistically have fewer social, and institutional supports. Affinity is excited to partner with the Care Plan and other LGBTQ competent care providers to offer quality options, resources and education to this community."
For more information, contact imani@affinity95.org . The event is free, but RSVP requested: www.eventbrite.com/e/lgbtq-care-fair-hosted-by-affinity-community-services-and-the-care-plan-tickets-28796592383 . |
