The Association of Latino Men for Action ( ALMA ) is an educational, advocacy, and leadership development organization for gay, bisexual, or questioning men. For over a decade, ALMA has nurtured a group identity based on the experiences of gay Latino men and has become an important voice on social and political issues both locally and nationally. A member of Chicago's Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame, ALMA continues at the forefront of the movement, helping to shape a better future for the gay Latino community.
Immigration, sexual health, and relationship building are among the important topics offered during community forums and educational workshops. Social events, brunches, and cultural activities are held throughout the year and are an excellent opportunity to network and make new friends. ALMA maintains close relationships with public and private organizations, linking individuals to needed services. Participants are encouraged to become members, volunteers, or even join the board of directors to have a more active role in ALMA.
