Bond has been set at $2.5 million for an individual arrested for the murder of a transgender individual who was found in an Elk Grove Village, Ill., motel on April 18.
Michael R. Davis, 20, of the 800 block of West 76th in Chicago, was arrested and charged in connection with the death of Krystal Heskin, 31, of Grayslake, Ill., according to a press release from the village police. Heskin died due to injuries and blunt force trauma to the head after being repeatedly hit with a hammer, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
Heskin was found dead at 1 p.m. at the Motel 6 at 1601 Oakton St. Hotel workers called police after finding Heskin dead on the bed, fully clothed. While the medical examiner's report noted the victim as a white male, police are referring to the victim as a woman; the decedent had male and female anatomy.
Davis was an associate of Heskin, having met her several years ago. He visited the motel room on April 16.
Davis, who has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder, appeared at the Rollling Meadows branch of the Circuit Court of Cook County on April 24 for a bond hearing. There, bond was set at $2.5 million, Hammar said. Hammar also told Windy City Times that the weapon was found near the crime scene and that more evidence was located at the suspect's residence.
