The AIDS Foundation of Chicago is hosting an official reading and signing of a proclamation in recognition of International Day of Bisexual Visibility at a press conference on Monday, September 23.
The proclamation, sponsored by the Chicago Bisexual Health Task Force and issued by the Office of Mayor Lori Lightfoot with support from 65 Chicago-area community-based organizations, commemorates the 20th anniversary of the first International Day of Bisexual Visibility. The 2019 proclamation also carries particular local significance, marking the one-year anniversary of Chicago's first proclamation officially recognizing this bisexual community holiday.
Robert Fotjik, senior aide to Mayor Lori Lightfoot, will announce and facilitate the first public reading of the proclamation at the event. Additional remarks will be provided by Antonio King, LGBTQ Health & Outreach Liaison at the Chicago Department of Public Health and Elizabeth Harrison at the Chicago Bisexual Health Task Force.
