More than $11,000 has been raised so far from this year's fourth annual "Celebrity Bowl" at Waveland Bowl, sponsored by Friends of the Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame May 9. Pledges are still coming in for the event, coordinated by Dick Uyvari.

Alderman James Cappleman, Jonathan Pizer representing U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley, Gary Chichester and Mary Morten were among the bowlers.

Friends of The Chicago Gay and Lesbian Hall of Fame is a not-for-profit which annually holds an Induction ceremony for its honorees. Chicago is the only known municipality that so honors its LGBTQ residents. It not only pays tribute to deserving individuals and organizations, but also documents the LGBTQ communities' heritage and diversity through its annual publication, and its website, www.glhalloffame.org .

The GLHF is privately funded through the donations of individuals, businesses and organizations, along with its 2014-'15 sponsors, including, BBJ Linen, Center on Halsted, Chicago History Museum, Grab Magazine, Hall's Rentals, House of Blues, International Mr. Leather, J&L Catering, Joe La Pat & Dick Uyvari, Michael Leppen, Napleton's Northwestern Chrysler Jeep Dodge, Nightspots, Phil Hannema, Rick Aguilar Studios, Sidetrack, Supergurl Images, Waveland Bowl and Windy City Media Group/Windy City Times.
