LGBTQ+ figure skater Amber Glenn nailed a triple axel and clinched her first senior U.S. title on Jan. 26 at the 2024 Prevagen U.S. Figure Skating Championships in Columbus, Ohio, per a U.S. Figure Skating report.
Two days later, queer skater Jason Brown, a two-time Olympic champion, finished second in the men's section of the U.S. Figure Skating Championships, Bleacher Report noted.
Glenn was joined on the podium by two first-time senior medalists at the U.S. Championships: Josephine Lee with silver and Sarah Everhardt with pewter (fourth place). Isabeau Levito, the 2023 U.S. champion, secured the bronze.
The penultimate skater in the field of 18 women, Glenn received an overall score of 210.46. Her free skate to Muse's "Exogenesis: Symphony, Part 3: Redemption Song" generated 135.48 points, second only to Lee's 138.85.
Last October, Glennwho identifies as bisexual and pansexualbecame the sixth U.S. female figure skater to land a clean triple axel in competition, hitting the jump at Skate America, NBC Sports noted.
Brown, of Illinois' Skokie Valley Skating Club, finished 29.85 points behind champion Ilia Malinin. Maxim Naumov finished third while Andrew Torgashev was fourth.
Next up is the 2024 World Figure Skating Championships in Montreal during March 18-24.
