PASSAGES Ashley Marie McClure-Wolfson
2023-11-17

Ashley Marie McClure-Wolfson, "Ash," pharmacist, BCACP, AAHIVP, passed away suddenly Nov. 11. She was 35 and a resident of the Andersonville neighborhood.

Born in Burnsville, Minnesota, Ashley graduated from Burnsville High School and completed a six-year accelerated PharmD program from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska.

She worked for Walgreens Pharmacy for 11 years, first in Omaha, primarily at the 50th and Center location. After completing the Walgreens-UIC PGY1 Community Practice Residency in Chicago, she worked in embedded specialty Walgreens pharmacies at Howard Brown Health locations, first in Rogers Park and later in Uptown. She most recently worked for the Office of Clinical Integrity.

Ashley was so loved by so many. She lit up a room with her presence, brightened people's days with her support and humor, and had a way about her that really made people feel welcome. She was a reliable and trusted confidant. She had an incredible eye for detail, appreciation of beauty and cuteness, and empathy for others. Ashley's most treasured experiences included La Crosse Christmases with family, Pokemon raids with loved ones, and road trips with her husband.

She was a lover of gardening, interior decorating, Studio Ghibli films, music of all sorts, theater, The Simpsons, bird watching and hiking. Ashley was also an accomplished long-distance runner who completed two half-marathons, as well as a creative and intuitive cook.

Her dedication to her patients at the pharmacy was unwavering. She was a relentless advocate for underserved populations of all types, and she used her clinical knowledge and her ability to untangle the health care bureaucracy to achieve remarkable outcomes for many of the people who came to see her.

Ashley gifted those around her with her kindness and laughter and left a shimmer on the lives of everyone who were lucky enough to have known her. She cared for all of the people in her life with an unparalleled fierceness, and part of her spark of life became a part of each one of those people—they will each carry it forever and pass it on in turn to the people they care for.
