SAVOR Bakery recommendation, venue slated to reopen, upcoming dinners

Recommendation: Provo's Bakery is offering some really cool options for the latter part of the year. (Think holiday dinners and business catering events.)

The Thanksgiving menu includes items such as pumpkin bread, various pies (pumpkin, apple and cherry), butter cookies, kolachky cookies and poppyseed rolls. Christmas butter cookies, yule-log cakes, pecan horns/crescents, apple strudel, German rye bread, pies and kolachky cookies make up the full winter menu.

What may make Provo's even more attractive are the reasonable prices for items (including $30 for a gift basket). In addition, there's free delivery (and make sure you mention me to ensure that). Visit Website Link Here , email ProvosBakery@yahoo.com or call/text 708-256-5009.

Ramova to reopen: The Ramova Theatre will officially reopen this fall in Chicago's Bridgeport neighborhood, at 3520 S. Halsted St., as a live music venue, craft brewery, beer garden and grill.

The reopening has been years in the making, and developers and investors hope the venue will invigorate Bridgeport as a premier live entertainment destination. Since beginning operations in 1929, the Ramova served as the Bridgeport neighborhood's primary movie theater until it closed in 1985 after its final screening of … Police Academy 2.

Brooklyn's Other Half Brewing has partnered with Ramova, and it will exclusively brew recipes out of the brewery, Other Half Ramova. The Ramova Grill—which initially closed in 2012 after an 82-year run in Bridgeport—will reopen as a 20-seat restaurant attached to Other Half Ramova.

The theater earned a place on the National Register of Historic Places in 2021 after years of grassroots campaigning from community members.

On Friday, Nov. 3, Chef Carlos Gaytan of upscale Mexican restaurant Tzuco, 720 N. State St., will celebrate the Day of the Dead (or Dia de Los Muertos) with a collaborative dinner with Chef Grace Ramirez.

According to a press release, "The dinner menu features signature dishes that pay homage to life, death and the memories that connect us all." Dishes will include guajillo adobo prawns tostada; salsa macha roasted octopus; chicken mole (roast chicken, mole poblano, saffron rice, corn, jícama and pomegranate); and a dessert course consisting of roasted pumpkin, spice cake, dark chocolate, and maple and Gruyere ice cream.
