Chicago Red Stars head coach Chris Petrucelli will not return to lead the team in 2024, the club announced.

"We appreciate Chris' service as coach, especially during this ownership transition, and we wish him well in his future endeavors," said Chicago Red Stars Executive Chairperson Laura Ricketts in a statement.

Ricketts, co-owner of the Chicago Cubs and a minority owner of the Chicago Sky, leads a diverse Chicago-based group of women business and civic leaders who became the new owners of the Chicago Red Stars in September. The Red Stars will host the OL Reign (and Megan Rapinoe, in her final game) at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 15, at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, ending their 2023 season. Ella Masar, the team's current assistant coach, will lead the team as interim head coach for that match.
