In a high-scoring affair, the Chicago Red Stars fell to the Kansas City Current 6-3 in Kansas City on Oct. 7.
With the loss, the Red Stars are now mathematically eliminated from playoff contention. The Red Stars return to Chicago for their final regular-season match of the 2023 season against the OL Reignand lesbian icon Megan Rapinoe, who will play her final game everat SeatGeek Stadium.
Chicago's goals came from the Red Stars' Kayla Sharples and Bianca St. Georges as well as a Kansas City own-goal.
With her goal, St-Georges is now tied with Ella Stevens for most goals on the team (four). The Red Stars have scored in 17 of their 21 games; only the Portland Thorns (19) have scored goals in more matches in the National Women's Soccer League this season.
The match against the Reign will take place Sunday, Oct. 15, at 5 p.m.
