Passages: Benjamin Feathers passes away
2023-07-06

Benjamin Feathers, "Pup Fenrir", 41, of Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, died in an apartment fire on July 1.

Ben lived a very lively life. He was a lifestyle member of Chicago's Leather community. Like so many others, it is where he found his freedom, his identity, his community, and the love of his life, Eric Redfern, his partner of three years. Ben was into full gear and pup play. His spiritual animal was that of a wolf. He was "Pup Fenrir" to Eric's "Sir".

He was very proud to represent the Men's Room Chicago, where he was a manager for six years. Ben frequented Sidetrack, Charlie's Chicago, and The Cell Block.

Ben was also a wise-cracker who loved to see smiles on other people's faces. He enjoyed "Disney Jeopardy" and all things Disney. Together, with Eric, he caught every episode of UNHhhh on YouTube.

Ben is survived by Eric as well as his adoring boyfriend Tim Johnson. Ben was born in Wapakoneta, Ohio. His relationship with his Chosen Family meant the world to him.

Ben is survived by his parents Kevin and Theresa Redfern, and his siblings Andrea (Jason) Testa, Kathleen (Brett) Becigneul, and Rebecca Redfern. He was the loving uncle of Carmen and Polly Testa and Quinn Becigneul.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Leather Archives & Museum: Article Link Here .

A memorial gathering is planned for Wednesday, Aug. 9, from 6-8 p.m. at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St. Everyone is invited to this celebration of things Ben loved, and if you are inclined, you are invited to dress in your favorite full gear. Ben would have loved that!
