On June 26, the suspect in a mass shooting that killed five people at Colorado Springs LGBTQ+ nightclub Club Q last year pled guilty to the crimes and received life in prison.
The sentencing of Anderson Lee Aldrich came just seven months after the shootingand spared the victims' family members and friends the ordeal of a potentially long trial, CBS News noted.
Aldrich pled guilty to five counts of murder and 46 counts of attempted murder. Aldrich also pled no contest to two hate crimesone a felony and the other a misdemeanor.
The Club Q attack happened more than a year after the shooter had been arrested for threatening their grandparents and vowing to become "the next mass killer."
The victims who passed away included Kelly Loving, Derrick Rump, Ashley Paugh, Daniel Aston and Raymond Green Vance.
