New York, NY, May 4, 2023 — Lambda Literary, the nation's premier LGBTQ literary arts organization, announced updates and additions, including host, special guests and more at the upcoming 35th Annual Lambda Literary Awards — aka "the Lammys!"

Updates to the program include film pioneer Lilly Wachowski, who will be presented with the Visionary Award, author Maia Kobabe, whose book "Genderqueer" has been targeted as one of the most banned books in the nation, will receive the Trustees' Impact Award, to be presented by icon and "Fun Home" author Alison Bechdel.

In addition, Charis Books is receiving the Publishers Award. River Butcher, an out, trans comedian and host, will serve as emcee.

Following the award ceremony, the afterparty will be DJed by DJ Reborn.

Finally, the dinner features a menu curated by celebrity chef Mina Newman (2009 Chopped winner) and specialty cocktails.

This year, the Lammys celebrates 35 years of championing the crucial role LGBTQ+ writers play in shaping the world. In today's cultural climate, when our work is perhaps at its most critical, Lambda Literary reclaims its place as the premier Pride Month opening celebration by returning IN PERSON for the first time since 2019. The celebration will be held in high-stepping style at our new home on Broadway, NYC's Art Deco Classic The Edison Ballroom!

To announce this year's Lammy Award winners, special prize winners, and community honorees, this year's Lammys offers its first HYBRID format featuring a live virtual experience which meets with our in-person event.
