A memorial celebration of the life of Urvashi Vaid will be held on Thursday, Nov. 3, at 5 p.m. ET/4 p.m. CT at B'Nai Jesherun, 258 W. 88th St., New York City.

Speakers are slated to include Richard Burns, Natalia Kanem, Alok Vaid-Menon, Tony Kushner, musical group Betty (who will perform the song "Together"), Gloria Steinem, Scot Nakagawa, Trishala Deb, Vaid's partner and wife Kate Clinton, and Rabbi Sharon Kleinbaum.
Vaidan attorney, LGBTQ+-rights activist and authordied May 14 at age 63 in her home in New York City. She was the executive director of the National LGBTQ Task Force during 1989-92 and started her career as a staff lawyer with the American Civil Liberties Union. In 2012, Vaid helped launch LPAC, the first lesbian Super PAC, and it has since invested millions of dollars in candidates who are committed to social justice through legislation.
