Last Call Chicago: A History of 1,001 LGBTQ-Friendly Taverns, Haunts & Hangouts is a historical account of LGBTQ+ venues in the Windy City.

The book's authors, Rick Karlin and St. Sukie de la Croix, are journalists who spent many years covering Chicago's LGBT bar scene.

They will discuss and read excerpts from their new book at the Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St., on Monday, Oct. 10, at 6 p.m. A book release party will be held at Sidetrack, 3349 N. Halsted St., on Wed., Oct. 12, at 6 p.m. At both events the authors will read selections from the book. Books will be available for sale and the authors will be signing copies of their book.

A release stated, "Last Call Chicago is a walk back in time—from the Speakeasies of the 1920s to the latest hot spots, and all done without looking at a single app. Opening Last Call Chicago is like stepping into a time machine that transports us across the years to bear witness to the triumphs, challenges and, sometimes, heartaches of the LGBTQ community in Chicago."

The book's foreword is by Chicago's own Arthur Johnston and Pepin Pena, community activists and owners of Sidetrack as well as subjects of the upcoming documentary Art & Pep.
