The Chicago Red Stars clinched the final spot in the National Women's Soccer League playoffs with a 2-0 win over Angel City FC on Oct. 2.
With the season-ending win, Chicago clinched a spot in the NWSL playoffs for the seventh straight year.
Yuki Nagasato and Mallory Pugh scored goals for the Red Stars. Chicago outshot Angel City (14 to seven) and took more shots inside the box than the visitors (nine to four).
The OL Reign won the 2022 NWSL Shieldawarded to the team with the best regular-season recordwith their 3-0 win over the Orlando Pride during their final regular season game, CBS Sports noted. They also earned a first-round bye to the NWSL semifinal.
The sixth-seeded Red Stars will take on the third-seeded San Diego Wave FC in a quarterfinal playoff game on Sunday, Oct. 16, in San Diego. The game will air on CBS Sports Network.
