Showtime announced that Grammy and Emmy nominee Margaret Cho, Joey Lauren Adams and Emmy nominee Joanna Cassidy will guest-star in the third season of the series The L Word: Generation Q, along with previously announced Grammy-nominated artist Kehlani, a press release noted. Previous guest stars Rosie O'Donnell and Laurel Holloman return. In addition, Jamie Clayton has been upped to series regular this season as she plays Tess, the bar manager at Dana's who becomes intertwined with Shane (Katherine Moennig) in work and love. Season three will premiere Friday, Nov. 18, on streaming and on demand for all Showtime subscribers before making its on-air debut Sunday, Nov. 20.

Kathlyn Horan's The Return of Tanya Tucker, Featuring Brandi Carlile will be released on Oct. 21 in New York and Los Angeles before expanding to additional markets, a press release noted. The documentary follows Tucker's "richly creative, utterly captivating, bumpy ride back to the top as [Carlile] encourages her to push past her fears to create a new sound and reach a new audience," according to the release.
Wanda Sykes is slated to host a new series that features videos taken from Ring doorbells, per Deadline. The comedian is to host Ring Nation, a new twist on the popular clip show genre. The series, which will launch on Sept. 26, will feature viral videos shared by people from their video doorbells and smart home cameras.
For music fans, there's the movie Moonage Daydream, which will debut in theaters globally and in IMAX on Friday, Sept. 16. The film's press notes state that the film illuminates the life and genius of David Bowie, one of the most prolific and influential artists of our time. Told through kaleidoscopic, never-before-seen footage, performances and music, Brett Morgen's (The Kid Stays in the Picture; Cobain: Montage of Heck, Jane) feature-length experiential cinematic odyssey explores Bowie's creative, musical and spiritual journeys. The film is guided by Bowie's own narration and is the first officially sanctioned film on the artist.
After four EPs (Fever, Make It Hot, Tina Snow and Suga) and her two LPs (Good News and Something For Thee Hotties), Grammy award-winning superstar, entrepreneur and philanthropist Megan Thee Stallion dropped her new LP Traumazine, per a press release. Shortly after New York City's mayor declared a local state of emergency due to the growing MPV (monkeypox) outbreak, gay talk-show host Andy Cohen used his platform to speak out on the topic, according to HIVPlus Magazine. "After what's been an abysmal response from our government so far, I'm hoping this new order will help our leaders actually deal with this threat," said Cohen. Cameron Bailey, CEO of the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), announced that the ensemble cast of My Policeman—Harry Styles, Emma Corrin, Gina McKee, Linus Roache, David Dawson and Rupert Everett—will be honored with the TIFF Tribute Award for Performance. Now in its fourth year, the TIFF Tribute Awards presented by BVLGARI will return to an in-person gala fundraiser during the 47th edition of the Toronto International Film Festival on Sunday, Sept. 11, at Fairmont Royal York Hotel. As previously announced, My Policeman, by director Michael Grandage, will have its world premiere at this year's festival; the film will then be released in theaters on Oct. 21 and on Prime Video starting Nov. 4.
Just a week after announcing that Drag Race all-star Shea Coulee will be joining the cast of Disney+'s upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe show Ironheart, Deadline reported that non-binary actor Zoe Terakes (Nine Perfect Strangers) has also joined the cast in a key role, according to Out Magazine. Ironheart stars Dominique Thorne as Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor in the world since Iron Man.
Openly LGBTQ+ actress Jane Lynch, an Illinois native, helped bring home two U.S. Travel Association Mercury Awards for the spots she directed and starred in for the Illinois Office of Tourism (IOT) at the 2022 ESTO (Educational Seminar for Tourism Organizations) in Grand Rapids, Michigan, according to Reel Chicago. The Mercury Awards recognize all U.S. tourism offices for excellence and creative accomplishment in destination marketing and promotion. Illinois' newest tourism marketing campaign, "Illinois: The Middle of Everything," starring first-time director Lynch, won the award for Best Public Relations Campaign. Also, the "Illinois Made" campaign won The Roads Less Traveled category.
Broad City alumna Abbi Jacobson is officially engaged to Jodi Balfour, Out Magazine noted. Jacobson—who is now in Prime Video's A League of Their Own—made her red carpet debut at the series' Los Angeles premiere alongside Balfour, where the two rocked engagement rings and walked hand-in-hand. Jacobson first confirmed that she and fellow actress Balfour were together in an October 2021 Instagram post, celebrating their one-year anniversary.
Fashion designer Zac Posen announced his engagement to Harrison Ball, who is a principal dancer at the New York City Ballet company, per Out Magazine. (Among those offering congratulations were David Burtka, Uzo Aduba, Iman and Carson Kressley.) Posen has become known for collaborating with celebrities such as Beyonce, Rihanna, Cameron Diaz, Jennifer Lopez, Natalie Portman, Amanda Seyfried and Kate Winslet, to name a few. Believe it or not, holiday movies are already being announced. Lifetime announced, in a press release, that EGOT award winner Rita Moreno is joining Marissa Jaret Winokur and Sarah Drew in the network's 2022 It's a Wonderful Lifetime movie slate. Moreno will be starring in Santa Bootcamp along with Winokur (Hairspray), Emily Kinney (The Walking Dead) and Justin Gaston (Nashville Star), and the movie will be directed by Melissa Joan Hart. Also, Drew (Grey's Anatomy) is pulling triple duty as the star, executive producer and writer of Reindeer Games Homecoming.
Former Glee actor Jane Lynch ended her run as "Mrs. Brice" in Broadway's Funny Girl on Aug. 14—several weeks earlier than the Sept. 4 date that was most recently announced (which itself was changed from the original date of Sept. 25), Deadline noted. Lynch's "Mrs. Brice" standby, Liz McCartney, is scheduled to play the role from Tuesday, Aug. 16-Sunday, Sept. 4, after which four-time Tony nominee Tovah Feldshuh will take over permanently on Tuesday, Sept. 6.
On the CBS show Big Brother, gay contestant Michael Bruner was not featured in the episode reading the letter sent by his fiance, Hayden, after Bruner won the Head of Household (HOH) competition, according to Out Magazine. Big Brother 24 had four HOHs prior to Bruner, and all four of them were shown reading the letters sent by their loved ones. However, fans watching the Big Brother 24 live feeds did get to watch Bruner reading his fiancé's letter and have shared the video on social media.

Lamont Dozier—the Motown songwriter behind hits such as the Supremes' "Baby Love" and "You Keep Me Hanging On"—has died at 81, NBC News noted. As one-third of the production team Holland—Dozier—Holland, Dozier was responsible for 10 of the Supremes' 12 U.S. #1 singles; the trio was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990, per The Guardian. Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson paid tribute, noting that Dozier's production team was "responsible for much of the Motown sound and countless hit records."
Ezra Miller, the non-binary star of the upcoming movie The Flash, has gotten into even more legal trouble, Variety noted. They were charged with felony burglary in Stamford, Vermont, according to a Vermont State Police report. Police found that several bottles of alcohol were taken from the residence while the homeowners were not present. After collecting statements and looking at surveillance videos, police charged Miller with felony burglary into an unoccupied dwelling.
In another Miller-related item, The 47th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) selected the Mary Harron-directed movie Dalíland as the closing night movie, and stars Ben Kingsley as the older Salvador Dalí and Ezra Miller as the younger Dalí, Deadline noted. However, the TIFF press release left Miller's name off the cast credits—possibly because of their latest legal scuffle.
The life of one of Hollywood's leading men, Cary Grant, is to be portrayed by Jason Isaacs in an ITV and BritBox International drama, Deadline noted. Grant is widely recognized as one of Hollywood's leading men, gaining a reputation for his transatlantic accent, sense of comic timing and handsome, debonair demeanor over more than 70 films in a decades-long 20th-century career. The movie is being called Archie, after Grant's birth name: Archibald Alexander Leach.
Hulu revealed first-look images of the upcoming original limited series Welcome to Chippendales, which will premiere later this year, a press release noted. A true-crime saga, Welcome to Chippendales tells the outrageous story of Somen "Steve" Banerjee, an Indian immigrant (played by Kumail Nanjiani) who became the unlikely founder of the world's greatest male-stripping empire—and let nothing stand in his way in the process. Murray Bartlett, Juliette Lewis and Annaleigh Ashford will co-star.
Showtime announced that two-time Emmy and Tony nominee Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant) is joining the highly anticipated second season of Yellowjackets in a series regular role as the adult version of Van. In addition, Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet) who plays the teen version of Van, has been upped to series regular in season two.
Grammy and Oscar winner Jon Batiste is leaving The Late Show with Stephen Colbert after seven seasons, Variety reported. He's exiting to "pursue personal and professional interests," Colbert said. Louis Cato, who has served as interim bandleader this summer, will take over on a permanent basis starting Tuesday, Sept. 6.
Singer Michelle Branch was arrested for domestic assault, the Nashville police department confirmed to Variety. The arrest took place following the announcement that Branch was splitting from her husband of three years, The Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. TMZ first reported the arrest, adding that court documents revealed Branch had slapped Carney in the face "one to two times." (Before announcing the split, Branch took to Twitter and accused Carney of cheating on her.) Branch's bail was set at $1,000.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' Kathy Hilton blamed bad eyesight as the reason for her mistaking singer Lizzo for the titular character from the 2009 film Precious, according to Chron. Hilton wrote in the comments section of the @QueensofBravo Instagram account: "The screen was so far away and my vision is terrible. If you recall, I couldn't even make out who Justin Timberlake or Melissa Etheridge was." However, Lizzo didn't seem affected by Hilton's mistake or the ensuing backlash, posting vacation photos on Twitter with the caption, "Meanwhile..."
