Sommelier/restauranteur Alpana Singhwho many also know from her time hosting the WTTW show Check, Please!announced that she will open her fourth restaurant venture, Alpana, in early spring.
Singh has helmed the Chicago restaurants Boarding House and Seven Lions, which are now both closed; and the Evanston spot Terra & Vine.
Located on the corner of State and Pearson streets in Chicago's Gold Coast neighborhood, Alpana will feature wine-inspired fare in a convivial and stylish bistro setting.
Singh will be working in tandem with a team of culinary professionals led by Chef Juan Chavez to execute her vision. "She is looking to offer a seasonally influenced menu that has been designed to accentuate the flavors of wine in pursuit of the perfect pairing," according to a press release.
The restaurant is set to begin with dinner service seven days a week. Lunch and weekend brunch services will be added at a later date.
The menu will feature a mix of appetizers, handmade pastas, small plates, entrees and sides. Examples of dishes include polenta fries and maitake, roasted cauliflower, pan-seared striped bass, butternut squash and salted caramel budino.
