The Peninsula Chicago, 108 E. Superior St., an art installation featuring Chicago artist Bob Fausthalf of a power couple of the art world, with Nick Cave.
Titled "with all, and still…," this exhibit debuted mid-September and will be on display in the lobby on the fifth floor of the hotel through the end of the year.
According to a press release, "with all, and still…" is a series of layered, billboard-scaled works created from photographic details captured by Faust from several of Chicago's 77 neighborhoods. The vibrant, digital images are used as the main medium to create new artworks that look different when seen from different vantage points.
This installation is the third of the hotel's Art in Resonance Program, following Chicago photographer Lincoln Shatz's "Impossibility of Place" (2018-19), and locally based abstract artist Darren Jones' "One Can Dream" and "Inner Courage Series" (2019-21).
Faust currently serves on the Cultural Advisory Council for the City of Chicago as well as the Committee on Design for the city's Department of Planning and Development. Other positions he holds are on the Chicago Dancemakers Forum board of directors and the School of the Art Institute's Fashion Council.
