Women & Children First hosting virtual event with Anita Hill on Sept. 29
2021-09-11

Anita Hill—the University Professor of Social Policy, Law, and Women's and Gender Studies at Brandeis University who played a major role in the 1991 Senate confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court nominee Clarence Thomas—will be part of a virtual event that Women & Children First bookstore is hosting Wed., Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. CT.

A reading and conversation with Hill will take place in honor of her new book, Believing: Our Thirty-Year Journey to End Gender Violence.

This ticketed virtual event will be held on Women & Children First's Crowdcast Channel. All tickets include a copy of Believing. The book associated with each ticket can either be shipped or picked up in-store (5233 N. Clark St.) beginning Sept. 29, depending on the ticket type selected.

In Believing, Hill draws on her years as a teacher, legal scholar and advocate, and on the experiences of the thousands of individuals who have told her their stories, to trace the pipeline of behavior that follows individuals from place to place: from home to school to work and back home. She demonstrates the impact it has on every aspect of lives, including physical and mental well-being, housing stability, political participation, economy and community safety; and shows how descriptive language undermines progress toward solutions.
