Aug. 12 LGBTQ town hall to discuss bar inclusivity
2021-07-28

Miller Lite and Equality Federation announced "Open & Proud," an initiative that aims to create safe, inclusive spaces at bars for the LGBTQ community.

The program features a series of town halls where LGBTQ individuals older than 21 will share their candid, open experiences and thoughts on how bars can be made more inclusive. All learnings will be used to develop training materials for the 55,000 bars where Miller Lite is sold.

The first town hall is happening in Chicago, in partnership with Equality Illinois, on Thursday, Aug. 12, at Center on Halsted, 3656 N. Halsted St., at 6 p.m.

Panelists will include Pride Action Tank Executive Director Kim Hunt; Equality Illinois Communications Director Myles Brady Davis; drag queen/activist/CDC Ambassador for "Let's Stop HIV Together" Milani Varela; and local drag queen and Drag March for Change co-organizer Jo Mama.

After the event, there will be a happy hour at North End, 3733 N. Halsted St.
