Chicago's City Hall (121 N. LaSalle St.) and the Cook County Building (118 N. Clark St.) will be closed to the public Wed., Jan. 20 as a precautionary step to ensure public safety on Inauguration Day, a press release announced.
The closures constitute a purely precautionary measure. At this time, the Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) and the Cook County Department of Emergency Management and Regional Security (EMRS) are not aware of any activity being planned in Chicago or suburban Cook County.
OEMC will activate the City of Chicago's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Jan. 20 to coordinate the city's public safety response to the events surrounding the presidential inauguration as needed. OEMC along with the Chicago Police Department, Chicago Fire Department and the City's infrastructure departments are prepared to take protective action and will continue to monitor the situation.
Any adjustments will be made as warranted.
