Chicago-based Media Burn Archive will present a free virtual screening of the 25-minute 1971 documentary film Transsexuals on Thursday, Aug. 27, at 11 a.m. CT.
The filmmakers noted in a press release that the film's title " was chosen at a time when it was the commonly-used and respectful term for transgender persons. We recognize that the term has fallen from favor, and that transgender is a more accurate and respectful descriptor."
Following a screening of the movie, there will be a discussion with filmmakers Susan Milano and Andrew Gurian, as well as co-founder and medical director of the Oregon Health & Science University Transgender Health Program, Dr. Christina Milano.
