Jeff Awards Nominee Night cabaret concert online June 1
2020-05-29

The Non-Equity Jeff Awards Nominee Night concert, a version of the annual event at Sidetrack to showcase Jeff Award nominees, will be broadcast without charge Monday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. at Article Link Here .

The annual event is normally held live at the Sidetrack video bar to showcase nominated musical theatre performers and productions. Since such a gathering isn't possible this year, Pride Films and Plays is instead presenting a program of recorded video performances by this year's nominees.

Some performances were videotaped in the empty Broadway theatre at Pride Arts Center ( using social distancing ), while other nominees filmed themselves from their stay-at-home locations. The videos were edited together to create a show of stellar talent. The evening is hosted by Scott Gryder, who was nominated for his solo performance in Pride Films and Plays' recent production of Buyer & Cellar, Jonathan Tolins' one-man play that imagines what it might be like to work as the only employee of the shopping mall in Barbra Streisand's spacious basement ( to be reprised by Scott and PFP for a one-night-only live-streamed performance on June 4. )

During the Nominee Night broadcast, viewers will be invited to help fund preparations for the eventual re-opening of the Pride Arts Center for plays, musicals and film events, with a portion of the donations going to Season of Concern ( a local actor-support organization. ) Donations can be made at pridefilmsandplays.com . After the initial broadcast, the show will remain accessible for viewing on YouTube with a link from PFP's website.
