Activists in Europe are calling on Tinley Park residents and village officials to show support for LGBTQ rights in a sister-city community in Poland, The Chicago Tribune reported.
European rights groups want Tinley Park and other Sister City communities throughout the world to send messages of support in an effort to end LGBTQ ideology-free zones that more than 80 jurisdictions in Poland have adoptedan act the European Union Parliament formally condemned last December.
Anti-gay sentiment is increasingly prevalent throughout Poland, according to advocacy groups. The groups All Out and Pulse of Europe recently launched a campaign calling on Sister Cities in America and elsewhere to help end local "LGBT Free Zones" in that country.
Tinley Park, a Chicago suburb, has a sister-city agreement with the Polish town of Nowy Sacz as well as with Budingen, Germany, and Mallow, Ireland.
