Organizers of the annual International Mr. Leather ( IML ) celebration announced the morning of March 19 that the annual eventnormally held each Memorial Day weekendhas been postponed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The 2020 IML event had been scheduled for May 21-25 at the Congress Plaza Hotel in downtown Chicago.
In a posting the IML website, organizers announced that, "Given the uncertainty we are all facing, what we can share is that International Mr. Leather Weekend is postponed until a date later in the year that we are still trying to determine. We are working with our stakeholders, vendors, hotels, etc., in order to make the final arrangements for a new date and schedule to be rolled out in the near future.
"We will have more info available across social media and the [IML] website regarding price changes, refunds, and other adjustments that may need to happen from this move. We respectfully ask for patience as we continue to get all the pieces together properly, which will allow us to share information with the entire community."
The announcement emphasized that the switch was a postponement and not an outright cancellation and that organizers "want to ensure that our annual family reunion will take place."
