The Body Politicaldescribed as "a semi-annual burlesque and variety show that confronts social myths about the body through personal stories of resistance and reclamation"will take place Saturday, Oct. 12, at 8 p.m. at the Greenhouse Theater, 2257 N. Lincoln Ave.
The Body Political is a 501( c )( 3 ) nonprofit founded by performance artists/activists Andi Stardust and Laika Fox; Belladonna Darling will co-produce the show.
Performers will explore topics such as racism and racial stereotypes, Blackness, queerness, gender expectations, trans visibility and invisibility, ageism, reproductive rights and fat phobia and fat acceptance. Magnoliah Black will host the show, with a cast that includes Cruel Valentine, Siomai Moore, MO LESS, Jean Wildest and visiting out-of-state artists.
