Reports: Man to testify about role in suicide-murder plot

An Oxford University official will testify against a Northwestern University researcher with whom he carried out a murder plot as part of a plea deal, according to Chicago Sun-Times.

Andrew Warren, who worked as a clerk in one of Oxford University's remote branches, will testify in court about his conspiracy with Wyndham Lathem to murder 26-year-old Trenton James Cornell-Duranleau, Lathem's boyfriend, who they killed in 2017. Cornell-Duranleau's stabbing was to be part of a larger suicide-murder pact—allegedly rooted in a sexual fantasy— that Warren and Lathem devised in online correspondence.

Lathem and Warren are both charged with Cornell-Duranleau's murder. The men were the focus of a large-scale manhunt after the killing, and surrendered to authorities in Northern California. The pair reportedly were remorseful after Cornell-Duranleau's stabbing and could not bring themselves to continue their scheme.

Warren would receive a 45-year sentence in exchange for his testimony against Lathem.
