Methodists retain ban on pro-LGBT measures
2019-02-26

During a special session of its General Conference on Feb. 26, leaders of the United Methodist Church rejected the One Church Plan—a measure that would have eased restrictions on gay and lesbian clergy as well as same-sex marriages, NPR.org reported.

Also, during the event held in St. Louis, global delegates voted 438-384 to pass the Traditional Plan, which maintains the church's rules.

The conference ( held Feb. 23-26 ) took place at a time when an increasing number of Methodist clergy have come out as gay.

General Conference 2020 will take place May 5-15, 2020, in Minneapolis.
