WTTW architect doc wins Hugo Award

WTTW has announced that Architect Michael Graves: A Grand Tour, 30-minute documentary that premiered on the station March 22, has been recognized with a Silver Plaque from the 2012 Hugo Television Awards in the category of Documentary: History/Biography.

The film told the story of Graves, an acclaimed architect who is this year's winner of the Richard H. Driehaus Prize for Classical and Traditional Architecture. His name is synonymous with the household products bearing his name at Target stores, but Graves is took the architecture world by storm in the 1980s with buildings that broke with orthodox modernism.

The awards were handed out April 19 at the Radisson Blu Aqua Hotel Chicago.
