Two out-of-state firms plan to build a Hyatt Place with about 130 rooms at the University of Chicago-owned Harper Court shopping center; it's part of a redevelopment plan for the property at Harper Avenue just north of 53rd Street.
R. Kelly foreclosure: Grammy Award-winning R&B artist R. Kelly is facing a $2.9-million foreclosure suit on his Olympia Fields mansion, according to ChicagoRealEstateDaily.com. The singer-songwriter, whose full name is Robert S. Kelly, has failed to make monthly mortgage payments since June 2010 on the property on Maros Lane, according to a complaint filed by J.P. Morgan Chase Bank N.A. in Cook County Circuit Court. The 11,140-square-foot home was built 11 years ago.
Blagojevich house on market: The Ravenswood Manor home of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich is up for sale, according to the Chicago Tribune. The Cook County Assessor lists the home's 2010 market value as $660,000. Blagojevich's attorney, Sheldon Sorosky, told U.S. District Judge James Zagel during a recent court hearing that the couple had about $300,000 in equity on the home and another $300,000 in equity on a Washington, D.C., condo Blagojevich has owned since being a congressman.
