Upcoming pet events to hold you over until the big spring thaw:

—Thurs., March 6: Happy Meower at T's Restaurant & Bar, 5025 N. Clark, 7-10 p.m.

Come have a drink for the cats at T's. After 7 p.m., a percentage of the profits made at T' s will go to Tree House Animal Foundation, a cageless, no-kill shelter dedicated to the rescue and rehabilition of sick, injured and abused stray cats. So head over to T's, bring some friends, and help raise money for the kitties!

—Sat., March 8: Thinking of Getting an 'Easter' Bunny? Anti-Cruelty Society, 510 N. LaSalle, 1-2:30 p.m.

Thinking of getting an 'Easter' bunny? Find out everything you need to know about proper rabbit care. Red Door rabbit experts will be at the Anti-Cruelty Society to discuss health care, diet, behavior, and the rewards and challenges of owning a rabbit. Learn all you need to know before making a 10-year commitment. See bunnies! This event is free, but pre-registration is required; e-mail info@reddoorshelter.org or call 773-764-2242. There is free parking at ACS on Wells off on Grand Avenue.

—Sat. May 3: The Anti-Cruelty Society's 14th annual Walk for the Animals, Lincoln Park at Montrose Harbor ( exit at 4400 N. Lake Shore, head east to the lake and look for the tents ) , 9 a.m.

It's a 5K/3.2-mile walk ( with or without your dog ) to raise funds in support of The Anti-Cruelty Society's animal welfare programs. Activities include canine obstacle and agility courses; demonstrations, exhibits, and free product samples from our small business sponsors; and family fun in the arts and education tent—plus free snacks, souvenir photos, a 50/50 raffle, contests and much more!
