Well, Diana Ross has a new CD that's making its way out onto the scene. It's entitled I Love You and I had the chance to experience a bit of it and its fun. We'll see how the whole album stands up to the test of the market. Keep your eyes open for it on shelves in the U.S. soon.
George Michael was, again, found in his car, too high/drunk/dumb to drive home, with a bag of weed. I might have to fly across the pond and give him a good lecture on hiring a cab, hiding his stash better, and self control. Watch out. Baby who's that? Don't look now there's a monkey on your back.
Jonathan, damn you, I'm addicted to NBC's Heroes. I have to admit, I was initially only drawn to it because Japanese comic and actor Masi Oka ( as Hiro Nakamura ) spoke lots of Japanese in the clips. But let me tell you, the cop in episode two speaks POOR Japanese. His accent is very I-learned-these-six-Japanese-words just like Lucy Liu in Kill Bill.
But then I saw Adrian Pasdar ( as Nathan Petrelli ) on the show and melted. In real life, he's married to Natalie of the Dixie Chicks and is the most handsome man on television. Ever. He has a jaw line that could cut steel and plays brother to Milo Ventimiglia ( as Peter Petrelli ) , whom many of you know from Gilmore Girls as Rory's former rough-trade boyfriend. Milo is another one I wouldn't kick outta bed. Too bad they are brothers on the show. Maybe they'll be shirtless soon though.
Eye candy notwithstanding, the stories are pretty kick ass so far. A cheerleader who is indestructible, a nurse that can fly, a junkie that can see the future, and lots of other threads that are going to make for an interesting season of television. And really, what else are you going to do on a Monday night at 8 p.m.?
Will someone please cut Kyle McLachlan's hair? Every time I see him on Desperate Housewives I think Nomi Malone is going to come strolling around the corner. Either that or Cristal Connors is going to appear in that metallic halter dress. Oh, damn it all, now I have to bust out Showgirls and watch it again...
The new season of Check, Please! on PBS is starting and my notepad is ready. I don't think I'll be catching it on Fridays at 8:00 p.m., but it's on many times during the week. Visit CheckPlease.tv for times.
And finally, if you haven't watched the clips and the behind the scenes footage, stop reading this, leap immediately over to your computer, and visit Dreamgirls.Dreamworks.com . Jennifer Hudson is set to play the role of a lifetime on the silver screen as Effie White. You theater queens know that Effie is one of the greatest stage roles ever played by the legendary Jennifer Holliday in the musical Dreamgirls.
With a cast that includes Beyoncé, Eddie Murphy, Jamie Foxx, Danny Glover, directed by Bill Condon ( Kinsey, Gods and Monsters ) it's going to be great.
With you in 4/4,
Peter Mavrik
