I want to start off with an update on Bill Bennett and Suzanne
Palmer's forthcoming release 'Fame.' Due to a few
unfortunate leaks associated with the project, the release
date for the single has been moved up to May 26. While
internet piracy and file sharing can have a negative end
result, I am very proud of the duo for moving up the release
of the single. Hopefully it's content wasn't as corrupted as
Britney's Blackout album, as piracy hurts emerging artists
the most. I wish Bill and Suzanne the best.
To switch gears a bit, I recently took in The Bravery's concert
at the Metro and was treated to two opening acts. The
one that intrigued me
most was the British
group Your Vegas.
They have a sound
that lands somewhere
between The Killers
and Snow Patorl. I
know, that is an odd
place, but they make
it work. Their debut
album, A Town And
Two Cities, is loaded
with well written and fairly melodic modern rock tracks. I
recommend the stand outs 'Up Until The Lights Go Out,'
and 'I Wish You Were Somewhere Else.'
Duffy has been remixed! Check out the sassy Gareth Wyn
remix to 'Mercy.' It does well
to take the already strong
track to the dance floor. It's
a little house, a little funk,
and a lot of fun. Don't be
surprised if you start begging
DJs for 'Mercy.'
Lastly, I want to tell you
to check out DJ Rican at
Jackhammer. April's Destination DJ winner will be appearing
on May 16. He has a style all his own and will be taking
the decks from 11 p.m. until 4 a.m.
