I want to start with a follow-up on last week's report. I spoke with Peter Rauhofer via MySpace. The remix to 'Apologize' baring his name is NOT his work, so don't be fooled.
Moving on... Idina Menzel is back with a new dance single. 'Defying Gravity' was big last Pride, and now 'Gorgeous' is picking up where the former left off. It's a good pride anthem with Tracy Young & Scotty K on remix duties, but it's still too cold for something so airy.
While we are on the subject of gay music, alternative gay icon Bjork has a new single out. 'Declare Independence' has remixes that range from dark to depressing ( sounds fun, huh? ) , so I would leave it to her die-hard fans only. If you like UK minimal, this is all you.
Britney Spears record label has finally graced us with official remixes to 'Piece Of Me.' Friscia & Lamboy give an anthemic tribal take. Tiesto ( yes, the same Tiesto who did that mix to 'Lovestoned' that's everywhere right now ) , Bimbo Jones, Bloodshy & Avant and Vasquez/Vicious are also on board.
While Britney has an anthem, all I can say about JT's 'Until the End Of Time' is that it's the little song that couldn't. A-list remixers including Ralphi, Mike Rizzo, and Sebastian Ledger could not save the track from being dance floor D.O.A. If you must dance to this, then try the mixes by Maurice Joshua or Vicious & Escape.
My last word is on Jason Nevins. He's behind the High School Musical 2: Dance Party Soundtrack... That's the only nice thing I have to say about it. |
