I want to thank Gia of Chicago Boi Toiz for fetching me in the door of Circuit this past Friday to photograph the benefit show for Questioning Youth Center. Seems there has been a rash of fake media trying to get a free show out of them and they put the hammer down on letting in media. If I were an asshole, I could have easily pulled the whole 'Do you know who I am?' schtick. But, in my ongoing efforts not to be assholish, I simply waited for the right person to stroll by and got in by virtue of their kindness. It was this kindness, no doubt that was the very genesis of the idea to do a show for QYC, which exists as a safe space for LGBTQQ ( yes, I DO know what each letter stands for ) youth. Kudos. And what a genuine treat it was to see Miss Angelique Munro performing. She's been through some hard times of late and, as is her trademark, has come through the storm with grace and humility. Brava!
Thanks to Matthew at Hydrate. He's this week's feature ( bar ) tender in 'Tender Love. Experience the tenderness with sweet, sweet Matthew each Friday and Saturday at Hydrate.
Nice to catch up with my good friend Ryan at Cocktail. Last time I was there I was in a blind hurry and couldn't have a moment, so we momented it up ( God, that's hard to pronounce--probably why it never made it into Webster's ) . Also good to see sweet young Matthew, formerly an ad rep for Nightspots. I thought ( and inquired ) that he had de-friended me on myspace, but it turns out he had deleted his profile all together. I'm pretty close, Matt. The cyber stalking is starting to push me over the edge.
And a special hello to that delectably nerdy boy at the back table whom I tried to convince that he should photograph with his glasses on. Shoot me an e-mail if you're reading this. I'm sure I have many more theories to discuss with you.
I don't really know what's going on, but every time I go to Jackhammer lately I end up making out with random dudes. You lose a few pounds and they're on you like Liza on a bloated closet-queen. Much to my chagrin, Jay was not one of the aforementioned dudes. It was great to wish him a happy birthday, though. Let's all wish him a happy, shall we?
Thanks to Jason down at Club Krave ( you remember--the queen with the 'drag lice' from a few weeks back ) for sending shots from their NYE party. Looking good, from what I can see. I'll have to make the drive soon!
And as a special favor to one Mr. Crew Guy, let's also wish happy birthday to Krystyna at Crew. Take a close look at the picture of her on page 14 with her birthday stripper. Let's just say it was a much more BALLSY shot before I took a stern photoshoppin' to it.
Fasten your safety belts and return your tray tables to an upright position, because Chicago is about to Take Off. TPAN's wildly successful Chicago Takes Off event is coming back Saturday, February 9. See the ad on page 31 for more sexiness.
