Welcome to the very first edition of our new nipped and tucked look. Joan Rivers WISHES she looked this good!
In addition to our continuing efforts to bring you all the best coverage of Chicago's LGBT bar scene, we've taken on a few extra features which may tantalize. All we wanna do is tantalize you. So let's meet our new thangs!
Turn to page 10 to get the latest beat from our new weekly music writer DJ Res 5 and his column 'The DJ, The Music and You.' Res will keep you abreast of the all the new releases, remixes, reissues... you know, all that music jazz. DJ Res 5 offers a fresh, timely perspective that'll keep you in the know.
Hungry? Horny? We've got you covered on both fronts with 'What Do YOU Wanna Do Tonight?,' Nightspots' new weekly column from big-time dater Michael Hampton. Each week, Michael floats you handy hints about what to do for your next first date. Take tips from Michael about where to go and what to do, thus ensuring you some much-deserved ass at the end of your next encounter. What did I tell you about tantalizing???
Despite what you may think about Illinois' new smoking ban ( FUCKERS!!! ) , it's pretty clear what the denizens of 'Smokers' Corner' feel on the subject. Look each week for a poor, shivering waif givin' Blago the ol' bird of shame. We got somethin' for your oral fixation right here!
You may also notice that our covers are a bit more functional. We maintain our dogged commitment to featuring only the best and brightest of our local stars and bars, but we add a bit of spice with headlines that help draw you in to our little web of fab.
Plus lots of other fun junk. Enjoy.
So, you're most likely wondering how my NYE went ( thanks for asking, BTW ) . Sure was exhausting, as you can see. If you remember, Mother Nature ( that vindictive cow ) threw us a little snowstorm that night. As a result, my evening started with 40 minutes of looking for parking. I know, I know, public transportation, blah, blah, blah.
Certainly got better from there, though.
Mostly it was a blur. I got my Richard Simmons aerobics on as I dashed from Spin to Scarlet to Sidetrack to Cocktail to Hydrate to @mosphere to Mary's. I would have something to write about, but as I was only in each place for a marathon five minutes, I really didn't have much time for conversation. If I saw you, I love you and I promise next time we'll chat deeper ( especially you, Eric at Cocktail ) .
I rang in '08 at Sofo with Chris, who saw me for all of 10 minutes. At that point I ditched the car, tied on my drink bag and welcomed 2008 with a drunken abandon rarely seen outside a gin distillery. And for different reasons, mostly the shots at Touché and Jackhammer, there's not too much to talk about from that portion of the evening as well. Let my pictures do the talking.
