Four people showed up to protest the firing of ousted Equality Illinois political director Rick Garcia Dec. 23. Garcia did not attend. The cold weather and timing of the event, two days before Christmas and during work hours, likely kept the numbers small. A former EI staff member, Rob Czar, called the firing of Garcia disgusting. Brother Michael Oboza, founder of the Bisexual Queer Alliance, organized the event through Facebook postings. Pictured in front of the closed Equality Illinois offices on Halsted are, from left: June LaTrobe, Brother Michael Oboza, Rob Czar and Chuck Kramer.
