The Canadian singer Alanis Morissette hit the stage at The Riviera Theatre over the weekend. With so many hits and fan favorites over the years, it must have been difficult to decide on the set list. The Guardian Angel Tour focused on many songs from her latest offering, Havoc and Bright Lights, such as "Woman Down" and "Guardian."
She ran up and down the stage with the long mane flying in the breeze throughout the concert. The crowd contained a mix of LGBT as well as straight attendees, showing she has a loyal base of diverse followers. She kept these longtime listeners happy with tracks from 1995's Jagged Little Pill such as "Ironic," "Head Over Feet," "You Learn" and, of course, "You Oughta Know."
But it was songs such as "Uninvited" and "So Pure" that projected well and showed the contributions that she has made to the music world.
Morissette returned for an encore of "Everything" that she sang acoustically and "Hand In My Pocket." For a second encore she played "Thank U," fittingly enough.
Many fans waited outside to say goodbye to the singer as she rolled down the window, waved and drove away without a peace sign. Photos and text by Jerry Nunn |
