New York City, New York, June 2, 2014Words without Borders, the online magazine for international literature, announces the release of their fifth volume of queer writing from around the world to coincide with LGBT Pride Month in the United States.
"We're tremendously excited to be celebrating LGBT Pride month with the release of this issue. The international voices in the magazine this month will only add to the exciting mix of conversations about sexuality, culture, and diversity that make LGBT Pride Month so special," said Rohan Kamicheril, WWB editor and the editor of the annual series.
The writers in the issue explore a wide spectrum of themesfrom exile to life in the armed forces to memories of lost adolescence.
The late Qiu Miaojin, winner of the China Times Literature Award pens disruptive and lyrical dispatches from Paris in an extract from the forthcoming book Last Words from Montmartre. Colombian journalist Alberto Salcedo Ramos gets on the field with Las Regias, a cross-dressing soccer team in the city of Cali who deal with soccer and life with bawdy good humor. Other writers in the issue include Stéphane Lambert, Ghazal Mosadeq, Miki Golod, Nao-Cola Yamazaki, Olga Pogodina-Kuzmina, Javier Malpica, Elvira Riveiro TobÃo, and Rachid Boudjedra.
The June issue also showcases exciting new writing from Equatorial Guinea with new writing from graphic novelist JamÃ"n y Queso, Trifonia Melibea Obono Ntutumu, and Juan TomÃĄs Ãvila Laurel.
