Authorities are questioning a 26-year-old woman regarding the murder of Rebecca 'Becky' Klein, 32, a Villa Park woman who was on her way to work on March 16.
Published reports say that Klein's roommate—and partner of five years—reported her missing after being contacted by the victim's boss, who wanted to know where she was. Klein's work vehicle was found a short distance from her home. ( The Daily Herald reported that Klein worked with developmentally disabled people. ) Detectives were on the scene shortly thereafter and found the victim's body March 17 in the trunk of a Ford Mustang in Klein's garage.
Shortly after finding out she was missing, the victim's cousins put up a Web site, rebeccaklein.blogspot.com, to field tips regarding Klein's possible whereabouts.
Authorities believe Klein was attacked in the house and her body was dumped in a car registered to Klein and her roommate.
Marilyn Lesak, co-owner of Range in Motion, where Klein worked, told Windy City Times that the victim was a 'wonderful employee. She was a supervisor and a director who was with us six years. We adored her.'
When asked what she will miss about Klein, Lesak said, 'her very presence.' Lesak added that the business is in the process of opening a senior center that will be named after Klein when it is completed.
As Windy City Times went to press, WGN News reported that the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office could file charges as early as March 20. They are classifying the case as a homicide investigation.
