I hope all of you have finally recovered from Pride weekend, because the second coming is almost here. Market Days, which is really almost Pride revisited, is the time when people feel the need to wear extremely small outfits and prance endlessly up and down Halsted all weekend. It's sort of a stand-and-pose-queen's dream come true, except the light of day tells no lies, so make sure you dress accordingly. But I digress. Any excuse for people to enjoy themselves as a community is a good one.

So in the most Ally McBeal of ways, I'm going to share with you the songs that play inside my head whenever I walk past certain Lakeview businesses. Hold on kids, this ride might get a little wild.

Charlie's: Pusaka's "I'm Addicted To You'. Have you noticed how people are so addicted to that place? Really, where else would you go late on a Friday night?

Bobby Love's: Rosemary Clooney's "Come On A My House". Comfortable and familiar, there's only love at Love's.

The Jewel on Broadway: The theme song from the movie "Wild Orchid". Hey, it's a great place to pick up men.

Bucks: "Freedom" by George Michael. Anything goes and everyone is welcome.

Roscoe's: The theme song to Sesame Street. No, I'm not being mean. I heard it there once. It stuck.

Cocktail: "Forever" by Sandy Rivera and John Alvarez, one of the first records I played there while Timmy Loop was teaching me to spin.

Pie Hole: "That's Amore" by Dean Martin. Moonstruck was actually playing on the TV (and thus the song) when I first visited.

Sidetrack: "Marcia Baila", my favorite video on their lineup by Les Rita Mitsouko. They play it so much even patrons who don't speak French know all the words.

The Closet: "The Ballad of Cleo and Joe" by Cindy Lauper. I heard it one night at the end of a massive club-crawl. That's the only thing I remember about that night...

Felt: "Tragedy" by Steps. It was playing the first night I was there.

Steamworks. "I Want Your Sex" by George Michael. 'Nuff said.

Spin: "Everybody, Everybody" by Black Box. Everyone is always welcome and the crowd is a beautiful rainbow of people. Plus the Friday night DJ is AWESOME!

Berlin: "Kiss" by Prince. What?! You haven't been there for Prince Night!

Now everybody be safe this Market Days. Celebrate Chicago and Lakeview because it's not only where we are, it's who we are.

With you in 4/4, Peter Mavrik
