Windy City Times and Queercast Host Heavy Hitters Marlee Matlin, Jennifer Beals, Lucy Lawless, Lynda Carter and Candis Cayne
Chicago — Chicago's leading and most established gay and lesbian newspaper, Windy City Times, is featuring some heavy hitters this month in their publication and on their bi-weekly podcast, Windy City Queercast ( www.WindyCityQueercast.com ).
The interviews feature some of the hottest and most talked about women in the entertainment business, including Lucy Lawless (Xena), Academy-Award winning actress Marlee Matlin and Jennifer Beals (both from The L Word), Lynda Carter (Wonder Woman) and transsexual actress Candis Cayne, now appearing in the hit network television series Dirty, Sexy, Money.
'Interviewing these powerful women in entertainment was a dream come true,' said Amy Matheny, co-host of the Queercast. 'People like Lucy know their lesbian following is loyal and she, like the other women we've interviewed, earnestly appreciate those fans.'
All the women are on an upswing in their careers with Lawless moving into a new singing career appearing in Chicago Buddy Guy's, Beals and Matlin who both star in the successful Showtime series The L Word and Candis Cayne making waves with her ground-breaking role as a transsexual on one of the hottest shows of the Fall season. And Lynda Carter, also recently in Chicago appearing in a new cabaret show, is on everyone's lips as the remaking of Wonder Woman seems to be the latest talk of Hollywood.
Additional September Windy City Times interviews included Grammy-winning singer Melissa Etheridge, chef Art Smith, playwright Nick Patricca, and comic Margaret Cho.
'In addition to these fabulous entertainment interviews, Windy City Times is truly about our hard-hitting news coverage,' says Managing Editor Andrew Davis. 'Expect more provocative news and entertainment items as we head into 2008—-especially with elections right around the corner.'
Windy City Times recently just went through a complete redesign with a smaller, easier-to-handle physical layout as well as an updated interior artwork design. All of these interviews are also online at www.WindyCityMediaGroup.com .
'We are moving into 2008 with the complete promotional package for our readers and our advertisers,' said Promotion Director Kathleen Ulm. 'These solid interviews are just icing on the cake with all the changes and additions we've implemented this Fall to keep us as the frontrunner when it comes to gay media in Chicago.'
