CHICAGO - The Board of Directors for Windy City Performing Arts has started their search for two Artistic Directors for the organization's choruses. Applications are now being accepted in hopes to fill these positions prior to the 2023-2024 season.

In recent history, Windy City Performing Arts has only had one artistic director who has directed both choruses—the Windy City Gay Chorus and Windy City Treble Quire. For this search, the organization is considering splitting the position into two positions, with a dedicated artistic director for each chorus. These two artistic directors would each lead their individual chorus and collaborate on the overall artistic direction of the organization, as well as on the theme and logistics of combined concerts. The start date for the position(s) is flexible but with an intent to conclude the search prior to July 1, 2023.

About Windy City Performing Arts:

Windy City Performing Arts (WCPA), a 501(c)3 organization who is also a member of GALA Choruses, sings to inspire change, celebrate diversity and honor the dignity of the LGBTQ+ community.

Founded in 1979, Windy City Performing Arts, is one of the oldest LGBTQ+ musical organizations in the country and currently comprises two choruses: Windy City Gay Chorus (WCGC), a tenor/bass chorus, and Windy City Treble Quire (WCTQ), a soprano/alto chorus. Each performs a variety of musical styles from classical to pop, striving for musical excellence in everything they perform. The choruses have a history of performing major choral works with a broad range of styles and have a strong history of commissioning original works.

Most recently, the choruses have been invited to perform with Marin Alsop and the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Hugh Jackman in concert and for Considering Matthew Shepard at Ravinia. The choruses perform three concerts a season (Holiday, Spring, Early Summer), with each group being highlighted individually and combining for SATB pieces.

WCPA is a community chorus that comprises a diverse collection of singers from across the Chicagoland community. The choruses are committed to performance excellence and represent a significant social outlet for members to share their love of music and performing. WCPA is a community of people, of which the artistic director is a significant member.

About the Windy City Performing Arts' Board of Directors:

Windy City Performing Arts's board is made up of volunteers who share a commitment to the organization's mission, values, and programming. Board members come from a variety of backgrounds and connections to WCPA, including members who sing in the choruses. The board is responsible for the fiduciary and governance health of the organization and members contribute to the board by serving on committees, supporting staff work, overseeing certain staff positions, and taking an active role in the fundraising.

Application Process:

Applicants must fill out the linked Google form which includes submitting a current resume, sending in their most up to date contact information, and answering a brief questionnaire: https://forms.gle/KrKNabRjrSghtfu39

The Board of Directors will follow up with applicants following the review of each application. Applications will be received and reviewed through February 26th, 2022
