Forums, a vendor fair and a barbecue are among the events planned for this year's Windy City Black Pride ( WCBP ) , which will take place June 30-July 3.
There will be workshops aplenty that will take place at the host hotel, the Hyatt Regency Chicago, located at 151 E. Wacker. Among the scheduled forums are 'Understanding the Importance of Psychological Support Groups for HIV Positive Clients,' 'The Covenant With Black America,' 'Music 101: Connecting the Pieces' and a body image workshop.
As for that barbecue, it is scheduled for July 3 at 1610 Brookwood Drive in Olympia Fields, 1-9 p.m. Call either 708-574-6711 or 708-724-9396 for more details.
Other events include a brunch/awards ceremony at the hotel and a worship service at Sherman Park, 1301 W. 52nd.
'Windy City Black Pride is the largest non-profit event in the Midwest for African-American LGBT people,' WCBP President Charles E. Nelson II stated in a press release. 'Pride is more than a series of parties; it is a vital part of the work to be seen and heard in our communities and to have our families recognized in the culture at large—and, we can have great fun doing it!'
