In the first game of this year's Crosstown Classic series between the Chicago White Sox (10-13) and the Chicago Cubs (9-14), the South Siders won 3-1 at Wrigley Field on May 3.
The White Sox's Tim Anderson homered (giving the team a 3-0 lead at that point) and Jose Abreu made two effective plays at first base. Reynaldo Lopez (3-0), the first of five White Sox relievers, pitched a scoreless inning for the win. Liam Hendriks got three outs for his sixth save in seven chances.
Nico Hoerner got the Cubs on the board with an RBI double in the sixth.
The two teams continue their series Wed., May 4, at 6:40 p.m. Right-handers Lucas Giolito (White Sox) and Kyle Hendricks (Cubs) start.
