Chicago White Sox player Carl Everett lashed out against gays and lesbians during an interview published in the July issue of Maxim, PlanetOut Network reported. While Everett told the magazine he has accepted gay teammates, he also said: 'Gays being gay is wrong. Two women can't produce a baby, two men can't produce a baby, so it's not how it's supposed to be. ... I don't believe in gay marriages. I don't believe in being gay.'
'Here's the thing about Carl, love him or hate him—he's very honest and speaks his mind,' Katie Kirby, a White Sox spokeswoman, told the PlanetOut Network. 'His views do not reflect the organization, because as an organization we embrace all sorts of fans, all genders [ and ] all orientations.'
Everett, who, according to FOXSports.com, once told Sports Illustrated that dinosaurs never existed, also commented that ' [ t ] hey need to implode Wrigley [ Field, the Chicago Cubs' home ] .'
